Cancellation Policy for Zoning Amendment and/or Variance Applications:
Cancellation of any zoning hearing for any Amendment and/or Variance must be made by the applicant, in writing, prior to the meeting being advertised. Once expenses for postage, advertising and/or meeting fees have occurred due to a submitted application, the Trustees may determine a partial refund if requested, in writing, by the applicant. The Zoning Inspector must provide notice of said cancellation policy upon submission of any Amendment or Variance application.

Issuance of Permits

The Benton Township Zoning Inspector will be available by appointment in the Township Hall to issue permits. Zoning Inspector, Alan Seeger Phone: 419-343-8587.

Noxious Weed Policy

The Benton Township Trustees remind all residents of the Noxious Weed Policy,

Established in July 2006, a fee of $250.00 per hour for man, tractor/mowers, and fuel will be charged if the Board deems it necessary to mow noxious weeds on private property after notice is given to the landowner.  The time billed will include travel time to and from the site.  The repair costs for any breakage of equipment due to poles, posts, and/or holes in the ground will be added to the hourly mowing bill.

As the governing body of Benton Township it is the mission of the Benton Township Board of Trustees to provide for the public safety and welfare of its citizens and visitors by providing, by contracts, fire and emergency medical services, overseeing the quality of maintenance of Benton Township roads, the upkeep of grounds and shelter houses in the Graytown Park and Sports Complex, to provide for accurate record-keeping and attentive care in performing burials in Elliston and Limestone Cemeteries, and proper administration of the Benton Township Zoning Regulations to enhance the quality of life for the residents of Benton Township, Ottawa County, Ohio.
